Ohhh boy, the creators of possibly my fav album in the summer of 08, Mystery Jets’s “Twenty One” is back!!! Posted earlier, the new Mystery Jets single from their new album Serotonin titled “Flash a Hungry Smile” and Dreaming of Another world did not failed to disappoint. I am now listening to the whole album since it’s been out earlier this month and it just further solidifies the fail to disappoint notion. It is just plainly/ simply amazing, catchy and upbeat, perfect for these summer beach months. I am absolutely in love. Here are two more tracks for you guys to get a little taste of the whole thing, I would definitely recommend getting this album though.

Created by Kenichi Tanaka, the video touches on the subject of his own home country, Japan. The video gives us a great perspective of what truly is Japan, it explores topics such as the typical stereotype ideals of Japanese people to the reality of living in urban Japan. But Japan as an economical powerhouse has it’s own downsides, like high suicidal rates from the shear pressure of work.
Reading many articles on the net and user comments on blogs etc, many people seems to have the idea of living in Japan to be the greatest thing in the world. Having been to Japan several times myself, I must say as a tourist it is absolutely fascinating, but if you ask me to live and work there, I don’t think I can handle it. Check out this lonnngg article of working and living in Japan from a white guy in a first person point of view on Kotaku, quite interesting.
Anyways to sum it all up, I always like to conclude with some music download, may I recommend the Feist remix it is definitely worth the 2 clicks to download the song.

ShareKraken is a brand that makes black rum. Their whole branding strategy revolves around the experience of dangerous, mystical beast and perhaps pirates?. Eitherway, it is pretty amazing stuff, when you order their rum, you can may get it in this sweet little crate. In the crate you will find the rum with it’s fantastic illustrative kraken for it’s label, as well as a scroll that explains it’s story and background. It’s obvious the designer had done a great deal of research and exploration, planned out how to execute this brand and bring it into the whole packaging, which really speaks about what the brand is all about. This is a great example of branding in it’s finest. The company also launched 3 well made videos to help promote their product and their pretty awesome, and here they are…

This incredible video is created by Bonsajo. I think I’ve watched it 30 times, and it still does not get old. The video syncs perfectly with the music, with the help of great graphic explorations such as the utilizations of simple shapes and form. Takuya Hosogane was able to create this mind blowing brain candy.
On further note, the pass two weeks had gotten a lot more exciting. Finally there are some great tracks that I can get excited about. One of these are ‘Get Stellar, another great emerging Australian group. Check out their new EP titled “The Moment“ if you can!

Amazing skateboard video by Salazar, great music and great visuals. It got such a free, light weight and young theme, I love it. Filmed in the beautiful province of B.C, Vancouver. The landscape shots and the powder effect (which he used flour and tempera powdered paint) are great eye candy. It definitely is different from all the rest of the skateboard video I’ve seen in the past and I must say the majority of skateboard video qualities are getting better and better. They came a long way from those ghetto homemade backyard skateboard video found on youtube several year back to ultimately this beautiful, well put together video. Anyhow, you must be wondering what are these great music played in the video. So I did all the hardwork and here are the soundtracks in this video for you!

Can’t get more analog than hand drawn typography, something I should practice more. This one was by Onetwentysix design studio.
Being inspired by Tristan’s post in “Dreaming in Piano”. I felt the need to post some analog stuff. It’s definitely healthy to get some analog dosage, too much digital stuff limits us to be dependable on one source, electricity. We live in a digital age, such that if we loose electricity we are screwedddd. It is literally the end of the world. But, candles and horse carriages are something that I don’t want to live by, sooo… ignore the problem? No, but I’ll win a noble prize when I figure out the solution to the problem, watch out.
Anyways, a few days ago I came across this intense piano battle between Gonzales and Andrew W.K the metal rocker at Joe’s Pub in NY. Although it was only for fun, it was highly entertaining and I am quite sure it was improvised. You can check out the highlight in this youtube video here. If you are interested in Gonzales, I’d higly suggest you to check out Gonzales album titled ” Soft Power”.
